PODIATRY TREATMENTS
Minimally Invasive Podiatric Surgery
Within this context, we refer to Minimally Invasive Foot Surgery, an advanced option that Clínica Párraga introduced in Spain over two decades ago, providing an effective solution to address various conditions without the need for visible sutures.
Radiographic Studies
At Clínica Párraga, we have radiographic imaging systems necessary for studying alterations and deformities of the foot and ankle. The foot X-ray is a safe and painless study in which a small amount of radiation is used to obtain an image of the patient's foot.
During the study, an X-ray machine sends a beam of radiation through the foot, and the image is recorded on special X-ray film or a computer.
Pediatric Podiatry
Pediatric Podiatry addresses alterations or defects in children's feet. As they are in a period of growth, it is important to review and correct foot issues in a timely manner to prevent future health problems. One of the most common questions on this topic is:
When is it recommended to visit a pediatric podiatrist? We respond that children should be taken around the age of 5 or when they start walking to detect alterations in the musculoskeletal system early.
Additionally, it is advisable to visit around the age of 10, as significant bone changes begin to occur.
Sports Podiatry
It is the specialty of podiatry that deals with pathologies and injuries of the foot that arise due to sporting activities. It aims to balance pressures and prevent excessive fatigue in ligaments, muscles, tendons, and joints of athletes, with the ultimate goal of preventing injuries. It is evident that foot health is crucial for anyone, regardless of age. The feet bear the weight of the entire body and undergo more stress than usual due to the overload they experience in each of our movements.
Imagine the strain that the feet endure while supporting our body weight during sports activities, especially in high-intensity sports such as running. At Párraga Foot Clinic, we have the most advanced technology for the morphological and functional exploration of athletes, always aiming to gather maximum information about the feet of athletes and provide them with the best treatment according to their needs.
Biomechanical Studies and Gait Analysis
The biomechanical gait analysis is an examination that involves analyzing the position of the feet in static and dynamic conditions, as well as the behavior of the knees, hips, and spine, to identify and treat the biomechanical causes of abnormalities. Conducting this test can help prevent injuries such as sprains, toe pain, heel spurs, plantar fasciitis, tendonitis, or damage from joint overloading.
With the results of the analysis, a diagnosis is formulated to apply the most appropriate treatment, such as the design of custom insoles that minimize defects caused in high-pressure areas or where support is excessively prolonged over time.
3D Insole Manufacturing
To enhance the quality of the insoles we offer to our patients and to carry out treatments precisely and easily, we use a foot scanner (3D scanner), the dynamic and intuitive newfeet application, and a 3D printer.
The 3D scanner provides a three-dimensional structure of the foot's sole with optimal resolution without the need for plaster or phenolic foam. With our ultra-portable and exclusive software, we produce the best insoles on the market—thin and comfortable.
Pain Management Treatments
The feet bear the responsibility of supporting the body's structure, and the good health of our feet also determines the well-being of other areas of our body, such as the hips, knees, or spine. Therefore, it is important to take care of our feet and visit the podiatrist at least once a year so that potential skin or nail alterations can be diagnosed or prevented, and foot pain can be avoided.
Pain is often one of the main reasons patients seek medical attention. These individuals typically have various ailments and have previously consulted with specialized doctors for their issue, but the pain persists. In our clinic, we provide personalized care to help patients perform daily activities normally, avoiding pain.
Diabetic Foot
Diabetic Foot is defined as the infection, ulceration, or destruction of deep tissues of the foot, associated with neuropathy and/or peripheral vascular disease of varying magnitude, in the lower extremities of patients with diabetes mellitus. Two of the risks for these patients are decreased sensitivity and poor foot circulation, which can lead to the formation of an ulcer, sometimes severe, and is the main cause of a potential amputation.
In the event that a patient observes an ulcer, they should promptly seek the attention of a specialist. Not only to treat it but also to diagnose it and design a personalized treatment most suitable for their case. In many instances, the care is provided by a competent nursing team.
Podiatric Dermatology
It involves the study of pathological processes of the foot that can be treated through manual procedures or by using instruments to preserve foot health and heal podiatric conditions.
Among the most common lesions in both children and adults are warts, hyperkeratosis (calluses), fungal infections, nail disorders (ingrown toenails), excessive sweating, friction due to digital deformities or footwear, painful or inflammatory processes in the joints that hinder normal walking..
Ingrown Toenail Treatment
It is a condition that occurs when the edge of the nail digs into the soft flesh of the toe, causing redness, pain, inflammation, and sometimes infection.
This condition primarily affects the big toe, although it can occur in any other toe. An ingrown toenail can result from various factors, with ill-fitting shoes and improperly trimmed toenails being the most common causes.
The skin along the edge of an ingrown toenail can become red and infected. The big toe is usually affected, but any toenail can become ingrown.
Nail Fungus Treatment
Nail fungus, also known as onychomycosis or nail mycosis, is an infection caused by fungi such as molds or yeasts that lead to changes in the color, deformation, and increased thickness of the nail.
At Clínica Párraga, we apply laser heat to the affected nail to eliminate the fungus. The treatment is painless, so when you suspect having such an infection, do not hesitate to visit a specialist.
Cortisone Infiltrations
Infiltration is an immediately effective treatment that, depending on the injected medication, relieves pain caused by various foot pathologies and accelerates healing.
Plantar heel pain is often detected when a patient takes their first steps after being inactive or after carrying some weight. The pain may improve on its own without treatment. However, it can persist for months and be disabling. Treatments include analgesics, heel and arch supports, exercises, shockwave therapy, and local corticosteroid injections.
Treatments with Physical Therapies
Chiropody
Chiropody is the podiatric treatment that involves the removal of calluses and alterations in the toenails to avoid and prevent possible discomfort caused by the use of improper footwear. It aims, on the one hand, to prevent pain and, on the other hand, to prevent future, more serious injuries, such as painful ulcerations that can hinder walking.
All treatments are carried out under the highest guarantee of sterilization provided by podiatry clinics following meticulous health controls.
SPECIALISTS
CARMEN PÁRRAGA FUENTES
SPECIALIST IN MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGERY
Dr. Párraga finished her training in podiatry in 2011; she specializing, for more than a decade, in minimally invasive surgery at the hands of Dr. Párraga, being a pioneer in the implementation of this surgical technique in the field of podiatry, thus becoming an eminence.
This fact, along with its new technological advances, position it at the forefront of current national and international podiatry.
Currently, Dr. Párraga, endorsed by her successful surgical techniques, directs the podiatry department at Párraga Footclinic, in Marbella, and at Clínica Párraga, in Ronda, where patients can discover a new way of understanding podiatry, advocating techniques and innovative processes applied with the latest technology, to achieve the best results in a less invasive way.
Today, foot surgery has become her greatest professional and personal achievement as it is the tool that has allowed her to improve the quality of life of the vast majority of patients who visit her.
